Workshop

Weather and Climate Extremes in a Changing Climate and Its Role in the Global Earth System

calendar
Jun 25th, 2007 - Jun 29th, 2007
location
Aspen

Extreme weather has severe social and economic impacts. This AGCI session explored this important topic by summarizing scientific understanding of weather and climate extremes for the US Climate Change Science Program (CCSP), Synthesis and Assessment Program (SAP) 3.3, “Weather and Climate Extremes in a Changing Climate.” The workshop discussions served as background for the final CCSP SAP 3.3 report and explored what is understood about the connection between climate change and extreme events from droughts to hurricanes.

Keywords: weather; climate variability & change; planning and synthesis; natural disasters
