Workshop

Global Change and Natural Hazards

calendar
Jul 10th, 1996 - Jul 20th, 1996
location
Aspen

The goal of this workshop was to produce specific recommendations on public policies and programs to reduce the impacts of future natural disasters and to integrate knowledge from the natural hazards community with the growing community of researchers focused on global change related events. Rather than focusing on research assessment and recommendations, this workshop’s primary objective was to propose potential applications of existing knowledge and data: for example, the operational utilization of remote sensing. A general theme was that societies resilient to natural hazards would be better prepared to face global changes resulting from anthropogenic climate change.

Keywords: adaptation; natural disasters, global change, climate change, resiliency
