Danie Potocek (née Monteverde) is a biogeochemist at Spark Climate Solutions, where she focuses on understanding greenhouse gas feedbacks from natural systems such as wetlands and permafrost. Her work highlights critical research gaps and informs policy action around warming-induced emissions. At Spark, she contributes to program design, expert convenings, and original research. Danie previously provided environmental and climate policy consulting across local, state, and federal levels. She holds a PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Southern California and completed postdoctoral research at Caltech, focusing on trace metal cycling and their roles in Earth's biological evolution.
