Science for Climate Action Network (SCAN)
The Science for Climate Action Network (SCAN) is a national network of leading scientists and practitioners who apply science to support climate adaptation, mitigation, and resilience solutions. SCAN uses a “community of practice” approach to convene scientists, stakeholders, and policymakers in sustained dialogue to identify leading practices in science-based risk management relevant for national, state, tribal, community-based, and private entities.
To address climate change fairly and effectively, SCAN combines the strengths of federal and non-federal institutions with existing adaptation professionals and networks to address on-the-ground questions and needs. AGCI works with SCAN to convene diverse groups around critical climate questions and needs, and to pilot and implement frameworks and methods that engage stakeholders and decision makers using a sustained assessment approach (see our Nature-Based Solutions project). We also help SCAN establish new public-private partnerships focused on learning from communities across the nation as they implement adaptation and mitigation projects.
