As Director of the Sciences and Exploration Directorate at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, I led the largest collection of Earth and Space scientists in the world, comprising four science divisions and two offices with 490+ civil servants and 2000+ contractors, including Earth Science, Heliophysics, Solar System Exploration, and Astrophysics. I have over twenty-three years of significant contributions to National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) projects and programs, with proven leadership experience and expert-level strengths in hydrospheric, biospheric, and geophysical sciences; research and data validation with a focus on linkages between the oceans, land, atmosphere, and life on Earth; and technology solutions to produce effective, accurate data. Executive aptitude and abilities managing personnel, programs, budgets, and processes. Significant experience with international and interagency collaboration and coalition building. Effective relational and communication skills with leadership, peers, industry experts, employees, and contractor staff. I am a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society and the American Geophysical Union.
