Steve Crooks

Dr. Steve Crooks is a cofounder of a number of organizations including Silvestrum Climate Associates, the Blue Carbon Initiative and the IUCN Species Survival Commissions for Mangroves. Steve has worked for 30 years on coastal wetlands restoration and natural climate solution. As a participant of the NASA Carbon Monitoring System he has served to translate emerging science on greenhouse gas fluxes into tools and guidance for policy and market applications. Steve was a Lead Author of the 2013 IPCC Wetland Supplement from which he assists countries include coastal wetlands in national/state GHG Inventories. Steve is also co-author of the Verified Carbon Standard tidal wetland and seagrass restoration methodologies (VM0033 and VM0007). He and his colleagues at Silvestrum assist entities on blue carbon finance project development. He was co-editor of the first book on blue carbon (the Blue Carbon Primer) of a special edition of Coastal Engineering Journal on green infrastructure and blue carbon.
