Meredith Holgerson
Associate Professor
Meredith Holgerson is an Associate Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at Cornell University. Her research team broadly studies aquatic ecosystem ecology, with a dominant focus on carbon cycling in ponds and wetlands. Projects range from local to global and include field observations, lab experiments, and whole-ecosystem manipulations. Meredith has participated in regional and global methane budgets with the inland waters team. Since 2022, Meredith and her research group have partnered with New York State DEC to quantify greenhouse gas emissions from wetlands and waterbodies throughout the state. Recently, this partnership has entailed collaborating with remote sensing experts and scaling up years of field data collection.
Prior to joining Cornell, Meredith spent two years as an Assistant Professor at St. Olaf College, was a Smith Fellows Postdoctoral Fellow for Conservation Biology, and completed a PhD at Yale University.
