Alison Hoyt is an Assistant Professor of Earth System Science at Stanford, where she leads the Terrestrial Carbon Cycle Group. Her work focuses on soil carbon, greenhouse gas emissions and their future response to climate change. For example, the group investigates methane emissions from tropical wetlands around the world, the impacts of land use change on tropical peatlands in Southeast Asia, and mangrove restoration. Her research addresses these issues at multiple scales with a range of methods, including field studies, isotope measurements, modeling and remote sensing. Prior to coming to Stanford, she completed her PhD at MIT and postdoctoral work at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry.
