Michael Langston
Deputy Program Manager
Mike Langston’s career includes both the natural and social sciences. He has a B.S. in Wildlife Ecology from Oklahoma State University, an M.S. in Ecology from the University of Central Florida, and a Doctorate in Environmental Science (emphasis in water policy) also from OSU.
The early part of his career included much ecological field work, but since 2004, he has served in a leadership capacity in three research funding programs. He is currently on detail from the USGS’s Ecosystem Mission Area to the Department of Defense. He serves two roles there: (1) Program Manager of the Legacy Resources Management Program and (2) a Deputy Program Manager in the SERDP and ESTCP research funding programs. His responsibilities include program administration, program review, and strategic planning. As an insider with both of these funding programs, he fosters connections between them and with the USGS.
