Laura Pollock
Assistant Professor
Laura is an Assistant Professor in Biology at McGill University in Montréal, was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow, and has a PhD from the Quantitative and Applied Ecology Group in Melbourne, Australia. She works at the interface of biodiversity modelling and conservation planning and has worked on advances in the modelling of entire ecosystems and new approaches for systematic conservation planning, including the adaptation of these models using machine learning. She contributes to GEO BON, including the Bon-in-a-Box platform for an open-source platform for modelling and optimizing biodiversity collection and indicators, the IUCN SSC Phylogenetic Diversity, co-lead of the modelling Axis of the Québec Center for Biodiversity Science, co-lead for the Environment group of IVADO, and is an Associate Academic Member of MILA.
