Dr. Marconi Campos is the chief scientist of WildMon, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing globally accessible technology solutions to accelerate data-driven biodiversity and ecosystem conservation. A native of Brazil and currently residing in Puerto Rico, Marconi has more than 20 years of experience in biodiversity monitoring and conservation in the tropics, with extensive expertise in species distribution modeling, passive acoustic monitoring, acoustic analysis, and data management. As Chief Scientist at WildMon, Marconi and his team are tasked with the crucial responsibility of transforming vast sound libraries and datasets into meaningful biological and ecological information that can be used to improve biodiversity conservation efforts. Marconi has greatly contributed to developing and maintaining the Arbimon platform, an online, free, and user-friendly platform hosting the world's largest library of soundscape recordings. Marconi has extensively collaborated with academic institutions, governments, and nonprofits to monitor and conserve wildlife in the tropics. Marconi's ecoacoustic expertise has enabled him to evaluate the impacts of natural gas exploration, mining, oil palm plantations, forest certification, restoration, and climate change on species distributions and biodiversity.
