Portfolio Lead, Large Scale Food Fortification and Agriculture Value Chain
I am a professional Food Technologist and expert in food fortification/processing and agriculture value chain by education. Currently, I am managing the Large-Scale Food Fortification (LSFF) and Agriculture Value Chain Programs of Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) - - a Swiss based foundation as the Portfolio Lead. Before joining GAIN, I have worked with the Nutrition International a not-for-profit technical organization with HQ in Ottawa, Canada at the capacity of National Program Officer and was leading the Food Fortification program to support the provision of improved nutrition for vulnerable I group of population. At NI, I was responsible for scale up rice fortification project in collaboration with WFP and the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Ministry of Food and to strengthening the USI program by supporting the Ministry of Industries in collaboration with UNICEF and GAIN. Skilled in program management, project planning, design, implementation, monitoring and management by education and have more than 30 years of job experience in above fields at various key positions.
I was the founding Factory Manager of PRAN - - the largest food-processors in Bangladesh. I also worked as Production Manager, Haque Brothers (Industries) Ltd. As Food Processing Specialist in ATDP/USAID - - a flagship USAID’s agribusiness project in Bangladesh, I have worked to strengthen government and private sector capacity in agribusiness and have provided technical and management consultancy supports to the business entrepreneurs.
I have awarded my PhD in Food Technology. I have graduated in Agricultural Engineering with Major in Food Technology and obtained M S in Food Technology from the Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymensingh.
