Nancy Freitas has nearly a decade of experience working in climate change research, adaptation, and education. She currently co-leads the stakeholder engagement process for California’s primary data portal, the Cal-Adapt Analytics Engine. In this role, Nancy assesses how climate data is used in the electricity sector, assists in the development of user-relevant tools for climate adaptation, and provides guidance on how to scale up co-production practices on regional and state levels.

Nancy is also a PhD candidate in the Energy and Resources Group at UC Berkeley. Her research evaluates what practitioners need to better address climate vulnerabilities and their impacts, as well as how science shifts in response to iterative stakeholder engagement. She holds a master’s degree in Energy and Resources with a focus on Arctic permafrost ecosystems.
