Greg McFarquhar

Greg McFarquhar received his B.Sc. in mathematics and physics from the University of Toronto, Canada in 1987. Afterwards, he decided to change his field of study to the atmospheric sciences and received his M.Sc. (1989) and Ph.D. (1993) from the University of Toronto atmospheric sciences group, specializing in cloud physics. Greg spent two years as a postdoctoral fellow at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography in La Jolla, California (1993-1994), and worked as a project scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado (1995-2001). Greg joined the faculty at the University of Illinois in the fall of 2001.Greg's current research group includes 8 graduate students (Bryan Guarante, Eric Schneider, Andrea Smith, Junshik Um, Hailong Wang, Hee-Jung Yang, Gong Zhang and Henian Zhang) 2 research associates (Matt Freer and Mike Timlin) and 2 undergraduate students (Hilary Minor and Jack Scheff). He also collaborates regularly with other departmental members, including Larry Di Girolamo, Matt Gilmore, Brian Jewett and Bob Rauber. Greg also acts as the Chief Scientist for the ARM Aerial Vehicle Program (AAVP).
