Kenneth J. Boote

Kenneth J. Boote is a Professor Emeritus in the Agronomy Department at the University of Florida in Gainesville. His research interests and specialization is Crop Physiology and Crop Modeling. He does research on photosynthesis, whole-plant growth, C and N metabolism of grain legumes in response to climate change factors (CO2, temperature, and drought) and genotypic attributes, studied in controlled-environment chambers, field, and temperature-gradient greenhouses. He is the co-developer of dynamic models for important food crops including soybean that are used worldwide for research on impacts of and adaptation to climate change and variability. Use these models to enhance physiological understanding, improve crop management strategies, and evaluate physiological traits for genetic improvement.
