Jerry Harder
Research Scientist III
Jerald Harder has been at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics, University of Colorado since 1998. He is the lead instrument scientist on the Spectral Irradiance Monitor (SIM) on-board the Solar Radiation and Climate Experiment (SORCE). His current interests include analysis of solar spectral variability, spectral radiometer design and calibration, and the impacts of solar variability on the Earth's atmosphere. From 1988-1998 he was researcher at the University of Colorado's Cooperative Institute for Research in the Environmental Sciences (CIRES) and the NOAA Aeronomy Laboratory (currently the NOAA Earth System Research Laboratory). There he studied tropospheric and stratospheric spectoscopy of atmospheric trace gases. He received his Ph.D in physics in 1987 at the University of Wyoming where he studied Antarctic ozone depletion.
