Climate Change Adaptation Specialist
Samantha is a Climate Change Adaptation Specialist with the municipality of Halifax in Canada and is responsible for advancing the sea-level rise related actions in the municipality's new climate plan HalifACT. Over the past 10 years she has worked in academia, non-profit organizations and various levels of government in Canada, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, and Central/South America to develop, fund, and implement projects that strengthen our collective ability to address climate change challenges. Samantha developed and led the Canada-wide Educating Coastal Communities About Sea Level Rise project, informed the Nova Scotia Coastal Protection Act, managed a multi-million dollar adaptation funding program in the Canadian Arctic, and is currently focusing on updating extreme water level projections and developing comprehensive flood hazard maps for the Halifax Regional Municipality.
