Gordon has over 30 years of experience. Gordon has worked throughout eastern Canada, in Botswana, and in Valdez Alaska. As the Director of Planning with the Department of Municipal Affairs, Gordon has developed the Municipal Flood Line Mapping Project, which to date has attracted $4.5 million for the creation of specifications and guidance for fluvial and coastal flood line mapping incorporating climate change considerations and the creation of flood line maps. In addition, he motivated and led the introduction of mandatory minimum planning requirements for municipalities, which is considered the most significant change to planning legislation in the province in over 20 years. He has also provided direct support for the development of regulations for the Coastal Protection Act that will set minimum building elevations and coastal erosion setbacks incorporating climate change considerations for the entire province.
