Biography
A Pittsburgh native, Michael earned his B.S. in Earth Science- Meteorology from California University of Pennsylvania. Earning both his M.A. and Ph.D. in Geography from Kent State University, his research explores the intersection of weather and climate on human health particularly as it related to extreme temperatures, climate variability and change. His work with the Virginia Geographic Alliance emphasizes Geoliteracy, and he engages with K-16 educators, policymakers, and community organizations to increase climate awareness throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia.
