Nancy Beller-Simms is the Program Manager for the NOAA Climate Program Office, Sector Applications Research Program, Water Sector. It is an interdisciplinary grants program that supports applications research on the influence of climate variability and change on water resource management. Much of her work centers within the decision support arena working with NOAA, other Federal agencies, NGOs, and other government officials to highlight the needs of decision makers for climate information and work to alleviate the barriers to its use. She led an effort through the U.S. Climate Change Science Program in delivering a Synthesis and Assessment Product entitled Decision-Support Experiments and Evaluations using Seasonal to Interannual Forecasts and Observational Data: A Focus on Water Resources. She has an M.S. in Geography from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Maryland.
