Veronika Eyring received her PhD in Environmental Physics from the University of Bremen (Germany) in 1999. She joined the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in 2000 where she is now working as a Senior Scientist and Head of the Earth system model evaluation group. She is Professor of Climate Modelling at the University of Bremen and maintains a strong collaboration with the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR, USA) as Affiliate Scientist. Her research focuses on Earth system modeling and process-oriented model evaluation with observations to better understand chemistry-climate interactions and climate change, and to improve the models. She has authored many peer-reviewed journal articles and has contributed to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) climate and World Meteorological Organization (WMO) ozone assessments since 2004. Veronika is involved in the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) through her roles as Chair of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP) Panel and member of the scientific steering committees for the Working Group on Coupled Modeling (WGCM), the WCRP Data Advisory Council's (WDAC) Observations for Model Evaluation Task Team, and the Working Group on Numerical Experimentation (WGNE)/WGCM Climate Model Diagnostics and Metrics Panel.
