Miguel Cortez was a climatologist and the lead of the Climate Section at the Mexican National Meteorological Service and lecturer at the Department of Geography, National University of Mexico. His research interests included climate variability, climate extremes and drought monitoring activities. Miguel also served as the Mexican principal author for the North American Drought Monitor.
