Since 1898 Dr. David H. Sowle has served as a technical staff member at the Mission Research Corporation, a contract research firm in Santa Barbara, California, where he is exploring entrepreneurial opportunities for non-defense contract research. Dr. Sowle started Mission Research Corporation in 1970 along with other colleagues who were dissatisfied working for large companies. He served as president of Mission Research Corporation from its inception to 1989.Before that, Dr. Sowle spent three years at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory, was manager of the Theory Branch of the Gulf General Atomic Corporation, and a technical staff member of the Astronautics Division of General Dynamics Corporation. Dr. Sowle attended the University of Minnesota where he received a PHD in theoretical physics in 1961.
