Biography
Dr Joeri Rogelj is Director of Research and Lecturer in Climate Change and the Environment at the Grantham Institute at Imperial College London. He explores how societies can transform towards more sustainable futures. His research activities cross several disciplinary boundaries, connecting Earth system sciences to the study of societal change and policy. Over the past decade, he has led multiple international scientific climate change assessments including the Emissions Gap Reports by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the assessments of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), including its Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5°C. He has published on the potential effectiveness of international climate change agreements, carbon budgets, global net zero targets, emission pathways that limit global warming to 1.5°C and 2°C, and the interaction between climate, sustainable development, and climate justice.
