Biography
Norman Myers received his B.A., Diploma in Overseas Administration, and M.A. from Oxford University in 1957, 1958 and 1963 respectively. He earned his PhD. at the university of California, Berkeley in 1973.From 1973 to 1980, Dr. Myers served in a variety of roles through consultancy assignments and other professional appointments, such as the Rockefeller Brothers Fund Project on Threatened Species and Genetic Resources, a survey for the U.S. National Academy of Sciences on Conversion of Tropical Forests, as Wildlife and Parks Officer for Africa under FAO, and as Director of the UNEP Conference on Tropical Forests. Since 1982, he has taken on more than 100 assignments in 40-plus countries, including: The World Bank, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the World Commission on Environment and Development, an Independent Commission on International Humanitarian Issues and various companies within the business sector.
