Biography

Dr. Karl E. Taylor is Director of the Program for Climate Model Diagnosis and Intercomparison at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. Since obtaining his Ph.D. from Yale University in 1978, his research has centered on the issue of global climate change, with recent publications considering the effects of greenhouse gases and sulfate aerosols on climate, detection of climate change, and evaluation and intercomparison of global climate models. Dr. Taylor has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications and has been a leader in coordinating international modeling activities, most notably CMIP, that explore our ability to project climate change. His expertise has been sought by a number of national and international groups, including the NRC, the World Climate Research Programme, and the IPCC.
