| Peter R. Gent is a Senior Scientist in the Oceanography Section at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado. He is currently the chairman of the Science Steering Committee for the CCSM, which is a community based program funded mostly by the NSF and DOE. The climate section of the DOE SciDAC program is based on many aspects of CCSM development, and its use to assess future climate change. He is best known for a parameterization of the effects of ocean mesoscale eddies on the mean flow, that is used in the ocean component of the CCSM, and virtually every other climate model around the world. |
